Can we discuss the SLICE? What do you think?

Not that I need ANOTHER DIE CUT machine...lol...but I just want some thoughts on what you all think about the pros/cons of this one.

I see they use a sticky mat as well...that's a CON in my book...lol!

But being able to cut out of the center of the paper..that's a PRO

But only having the option of those limited sizes...CON

Does anyone know the price of the machine and the disks? How much for additional fonts? What's the story on that?

Details..I want details....I just saw the DEMO video..and that is all I am going on..does anyone know anymore about it?

leslie :D

Well, after watching the "You Tube" video, I think it's cool! Of course, I JUST got a Cricut!!! :x Figures...
The only con I see is that you have to "hold" it (looks like) in place to make the cut! The sizes available don't really bother me, for I won't be cutting really large items!
Pro: 1. the fact there are no "cartridges"
2. You can create your own images and save!
3. It's more portable than the Cricut.
4. Less waste of paper.

These are just "My" opinions. Without actually trying it, I can't really come up w/any cons or more substantial pros!!! But I am interested in what others come up with!! :)

P.S.S.
You can use a regular "self-healing" mat to cut; that is why I stated it looks like you have to hold (firmly) the machine while cutting. I guess you could use a smaller mat on top your work mat then use a "removable", "repositionable" adhesive to hold it in place!! (con?)

So it doesn't need additional cartridges?? I thought I someone mentioned additional disks are 20 or are they just like a memory stick??

I don't like the fact that you have to hold it the whole time it is cutting.

I do like you could cut in the center of a paper

Don't like that you can only cut up to 4 inches.

Some other questions, does it have other options--like shadow and stuff, obviously you can't weld a word unless it would be less than 4 inches long.

I don't think this would be a need to have item for me.

Now if the little machine would cut on any old mat so like a 12x12 and would move around so you could cut a whole word, That would be awesome.

I don't know much about it, but it looks like something "yummy". Provided there's no additional cartridges, disks, etc, and depending on the cost, it may just be the next thing on my "wish list". I like small and portable ;)

I saw somewhere the retail price was $149. I'll be passing, for that much money, I'd just spend a little more and get a cricut or something else.

Now if it were less than say $75, they may have me thinking.

This is what I saw
I t does take addional disc like a SD that has alot of clip art /fonts on it they used the word thousand, it comes with one disc that has 1000 images on it and add disc range in $20

I saw one video with a glass mat and she said she was using a glass mat and I seen 1 video with the use of sticky paper.

I saw a price of 149.00 msrp not sure i got hose letters in correct order.

even though it only cuts up to 4 inch which is fine with me you do have 8 sizes frome 1/2 to 4 inches.

I want to see this in operation and it is affordable.

I think I want this if not then its time to buy a SILLOUETTE and forget it
I seem to like the smaller machine.

I really like it from what I've seen so far, I love the size and portability you can take it to any crop easily..I love that you can pretty much use any size paper..Love that it has a very large array of choices..The price is not that bad for a new item..I was considering the circuit (i must be the only one who doesn't have one lol) But so far I like this machine much better..I also like the idea that one of the cartridges is called noteworthy which will go with their notheworthy line (one of my favs) as well as others.. They had 2 demo videos featured in their blog
http://www.makingmemories.typepad.com/ under yesterdays date..You'll have to scroll a bit to find them..
So far so good for me!
