I have been keeping up with this thread over the past few days, watching as new posts pop up because I'm interested in others' opinions because I haven't really been able to form one of my own....
however....in either my naivete or from this nasty flu that I have and all the subsequent medicine, I'm a bit confused as to why CK Online posted thier comment just now.

Any ideas? I really am confused!

I think it's their way of reminding us of the TOU. And to think before we post...lest the discussion become too negative...

I was terribly disappointed when CK discontinued the Annual Idea Book. I made the CHOICE to buy it because it was full of LAYOUTS! And, that is really what I am most interested in seeing in the magazine, LO's. I enjoy Ali, Becky, and Jennifer's articles but since I do not do digital LO's, I skip over that kind of content. I let my subscription to Memory Makers lapse because it was WAY overboard (IMO) with digital LO's. I am not opposed to digi LO's or altered items but put them in another magazine (or special issue) and go back to more paper LO's in CK. If I am just so out of touch with the times, then bring back a special issue with all LO's and I will BUY IT and cancel my subscription. I find that I can see all the digi and altered inspiration I need right here on the CKMB without it flowing over so much into the magazine. Hope I have not offended anyone, JMHO. Thanks for reading! :D

Scrapbooking

Postby Maple Jenny on Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:51 am

I agree with the product issue--LOs are AWOL in there, and I get the mag for LOs--but I am not so sorely disappointed with CK itself. Some stuff I don't like--I'm sorry, I think CD makes beautiful pages, but I can see nothing in them I can try myself. That given, I like Brian's last page. I love Ali. Jen Maguire's column is growing on me (I know, it's been there a while). I liked some of the bigger recent articles--passions, so we could see the SOY finalists, new color combo, color or B&W photo. Nice LOs and ideas. It's not perfect or exactly what I want, but it's one of the better mags IMO.

I really want an article that issues challenges like online. Something that gives me new ideas to stretch myself with topic, photos, products, journaling, and so on. I like my style, I know more than the basics, so anything that gives me new, manageable directions to go in will help me become a better scrapper. And if the challenge article had LOs to go with it, I'd be even happier.

I am a bit baffled by CK's decision to post to this thread today or all days. I think people can express disappointment in a new direction a magazine is taking without being disrespectful. I personally am not happy with the direction CK is going in, but I would hope an open dialog about it would encourage CK to consider how the readers view their changes and alter them according to public opinion rather than try to silence anyone with a different opinion.

I don't always agree with my DH, but I love him dearly and would never be disrespectful to him.

CK, I mean no disrespect, but I do feel like something is missing lately from the magazine.

I agree with the feeling that the magazine is not what is once was.

It is very small now compared to old issues, and they don't seem to want to appeal to a broad demographic anymore

You would think that CK would be interested in hearing the readers opinions of CK, instead of discouraging them. (if people are disappointed, you might want to know why)
