Not happy with the new CK

Postby ScrapsofOz on Tue Jan 22, 2008 11:07 pm

Is there anybody out there who isn't particularly fond of the "new" CK magazine format? I have found the last few issues very disappointing and bland. I have a subscription and just got the "Ultimate Product's Guide" which has left me stone cold. I don't understand the reasoning behind putting products like Cricuit in the same catagory as scissors. It just seems sort of stupid. Maybe it is because I am not a big digital scrapper, but the recent issues of CK have just been really bland and uninspiring. I like the new logo on the cover, but that is about it. The rest of the magazine just seems boring. I am up to renew in May '08 and if this continues and I am waiting for the magazine to improve. So disappointed in where it is heading...

I REALLY hate to agree with you on this, but I completely do. Although I haven't got my special issue yet, so I can't comment on that. But the monthly magazine has kind of lost some appeal for me.

I'm not sure if I'm imagining it, but there seems to be less layouts in there. And I'm not dog-earing as many pages as years past. I still have until Dec for renewal but just this a.m. I was thinking perhaps hooking up with Scrapbooks, Etc.

I too, love the cover design but I normally read it cover to cover from the day it arrives but I'm like a month behind. I just find too many other things that are interesting me more than looking thru it.

I don't mind it but I just had comments about the ultimate guide. To me it wasn't very consistent. for some categories there were little charts but not for all of them. Also on some of the little charts some of my fav products weren't even included, which you can say that not every product can be included but I am talking about popular items. Another suggestion if they do this again is to include MSRP's .

I have to say, overall, I'm very happy with the changes they have made in the magazine. I love their dream team, and that they are showing more variety in styles, and people published. I also love that Candice Stringham has a column. I like the computer tips (especially the photo editing ones) and the photography tips.

Having said that, the Product Guide wasn't something I was really into. I guess for me it's more about the layouts and projects. I did like that they put some layouts in it, I just wish there were more!

I like most of it so far.

My biggest complaint is that the layouts are too small! They really, really need to make those layouts bigger or I will probably rethink my subscription this time. I get Scrapbooks Etc too and was just looking at their Jan issue and I liked it so much more because I could see everything on the layout. Just my two cents!

I also hate to agree with you....considering this is CK's website, but I have noticed that their issues have been a little on the dull side lately. I don't know if they have more advertisements, and less layouts? It just seems like I could breeze through the magazine quickly, and not find anything about it that stuck out to me. It would be nice to see more layouts, more scraprooms, and more of the latest products used in their issues. I'm also starting to look into Scrapbooks Etc. they seem to have more interesting pages, and a little bit of everything. I hope CK catches the drift about improving their mag.

i also like most of it...i do wish the layouts were a little bigger so i could read the journaling...sometimes the journaling "makes" the layout...i like the new columns....

Not especially loving it either, BUT, just renewed so I'm hoping it will improve.
