I found this quote hysterically off the mark...

"It's kind of like being a rock star," Contes said. "It's not what you think scrapbooking is."
Um - she thinks she is a rock star????
Rofl..... thanks for the link....

To me, the whole thing was laughable really. Never really understood the hype over her - there are plenty of other very talented scrappers who are nicer people. It all seemed like "manufactured publicity" to me. I never considered myself to be of the "Stepford wife kind of mind set" and hey, I was probably doing avant garde before she was born   Thanks for the laugh.

Yea, Made me laugh too, she must have been talking about the Stepford wives remake because I dont think she was born yet for the original

And for the record, I could care less what others want to scrap or if they are using acid free or not, not my business. HAHA, I am SOOOOO not original, I couldnt come up with my own design for a layout if you gave me a million $...well I could try!

My biggest issue with the article is that it makes ALL scrappers look, at the very least, rather silly, sad even... It makes "traditional" SBers look vindictive and mean. As for the "modern" SBer, well it highlights a certain prima donna attitude that just isn't flattering. I shared the link w/ my Mom (who is not an SBer) and she said that if she didn't know me, and some of my SB friends it would make her think pretty poorly of those of us into this hobby/passion/art form.
Many of my non-SB friends found the article laughable. It certainly didn't win any points for KC in their opinion.
Some folks say I have a short attention span, but they just....Ohhh look, sparklies!

I wasn't very vocal about this issue when it was THE hot topic but I read what many of you wrote about it. IMHO THIS article wasn't very well written and I'm not sure if the reporter was trying to make KC into a victim or a hero. Was the reporter simply trying to tell KC's story or was she trying to shed negative light on SBers in general or the industry? I just couldn't figure this out.

I doubt many of us, even those of us in our 20s, are of the Stepford Wife variety. I also agree with Kelliannie, the drama has been over for awhile so why bring it up again now?

Hmmmm...seems to me to be just another round of drama. :?

It got printed in my local paper. There was a teaser on ther front paper then the rest of the story on page 5, the whole top of the page and a huge photo of her. What a joke. So tired of the whole thing. All I can say is give up on your 15 minutes of fame!
Motto to live by: Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intenion of arriving safely and in a well preserved body, but to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand and latte in the other,a body used up and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!"

Seriously! I felt a little bad for her when the whole thing blew up the first time. Not anymore.
Yes, her 15 minutes has been up a long time ago. I almost expect her to show up on some reality show now to drag her fame out a little longer.

I didn't think the article was very flattering to KC, that is for sure. I didn't realize the LA Times were employing such hacks these days. It was a poorly written, bitter piece of drivel I thought. JMO. I don't think KC intended to cheat or do something wrong but I do think the way she has handled it could have been better. The magazine has the most blood on its hands. I don't think they could have done a better job at botching the situation. I also think critics could have been more diplomatic. When people are anonymous they tend to be a bit meaner than when their name is attached. This reminds me of when I used to show animals with my son when he was little. I left that because of what the competitive spirit can drive people to do and say.

Okay--

1. I'm a 20-something, but she ain't my pinup.

2. Maybe I like teddy bear stamps! Ever thought about that?!?!

3. That article struck a pet-peeve nerve with me, so here goes:

Dear person in their 20's who thinks that having a tattoo, listening to Imogen Heap, wearing Converses, and collecting Absolut paraphenalia makes you different:

You're not. Everyone under 30 has a tattoo. Everyone listens to Imogen Heap. Everyone wears Converses. Everyone loves the Absolut bottle. When I go out at night, I can't spit in the air without hitting a Scene Kid who wears his mama's leggings and flat-irons his hair for the sake of "indiviuality." Imagine a kid in the 1980's who thinks that his moussed hair and loud neon shirts make him stand out in the crowd. That's you--you're the 2008 version of him.

Sincerely yours,
Christina the Conformist
I went to a T-Shirt factory, and all I got was this lousy keychain.

People over 40 have tatoo's too, listen to Imogen Heap, wear Converses, and love the Absolut! Plus I still have my leg warmers from the first time they were in fashion! I guess that just makes everything uncool now!
