Wow, just wow....
Hold on..I have to take a deep breath over this...I am in total shock.
Shock that not only was there one HOF that apparently didn't follow the rules and was DQd (Krista Contes)..but now there appears to be a second HOF'er that has not only ignored the rules but is lying about it? I am just floored.
Anastasia..I sincerely appreciate you bringing this information up on the CKMB--a better place to have it posted than on a veggie board (since CK is responsible for the HOF contest to begin with!). I thank you for keeping all of us in 'the loop'. You did a wonderful job of writing your comments and questions. The best I could come up (and I tried very hard to be diplomatic) with was "nope, not possible".
I'm sure that there are some on here that are tired of hearing about the entire HOF 2007 nightmare (and I would offer a word of advice--don't read those threads!), but there are just as many that are NOT aware of the situation (just look at how many CKMB subscribers there are! "We have 41157 registered users" (just copied from the front page of the mb). I congratulate you on bringing this latest situation to light and not keeping it hidden. More people need to know what's going on!
CK is a big company..a company that a great majority of scrappers 'give' money to (we purchase their product, we attend workshops, CKU's, etc etc etc). I think it's important for companies to be held accountable for their actions. In this case..CK sponsored a contest (THEIR own contest) with specific rules. When it was discovered that one of the HOF winners broke the rules...all other entries should have been reviewed. Equal action for equal action. In other words, if you DQ one for not following the rules, you DQ them all.
And for those that think this is a 'witch hunt'..I have this to say:
According to Merriam-Webster, a witch hunt is defined as: 1 : a searching out for persecution of persons accused of witchcraft
2 : the searching out and deliberate harassment of those (as political opponents) with unpopular views
Taking the first definition (literally, because how else can it be taken?)...I would say that no-there is not a witch hunt going on here with regards to the CK 2007 HOF scandal. No one is being accused of witchcraft (I will concede that some are wondering how a few of the photos were taken, however!)
Taking the second definition..I would say that this definition applies more to those that are accusing others of a 'witch hunt'. Those that are bringing to light error in the entire HOF prorgram are not harassing anyone-if anything..they are going out of their way to be polite! And the very thing that is being discussed is not just a difference of opinion-it's a difference of right and wrong. Were the rules (as set by CK PROR to the contest) followed? Check box one for yes, box two for No. If you check box one..continue on to the next setp. If, however, box two is marked--that person/entry should be disqualified.
I will even go one step further...those that are bringing these issues to light are being harassed for their differing opinions! They are not going along with the flow/accepted beliefs...and if they question anything with regards to the HOF issue, they are verbally attacked (accued of a witch hunt, questioned why *they* are continuing to keep the issue alive, etc.) In some not so extreme cases--people have been BANNED from several online communities (CKMB included) simply for voicing an opion that was different.
SO..to get back to your post anastasia...bravo for bringing your questions to light! I hope that Bernadette will step up and be able to explain everything as eloquently as you have here.
I hope that CK is paying attention and are taking steps to insure that the 2007 supplement is accurate (contains only those entries that followed the rules).
Thank you!
