Hi Kim ... I'm sorry, I do remember you saying something about the cheer event ... so how did she do? My two youngest daughters were cheerleaders so I know what you are going through! The oldest of those two (my middle daughter) is still involved with the profession ... she works for United Spirit Assn (USA). She began working for them when she graduated from hs as an instructor. She has been with the company for 15 years! wow, that's a long time. She now works in the office. She judges competitions, often is a camp director, is responsible for staff travel ... she is ALWAYS busy ...

WOW, that awesome that she was able to continue on for so long, good for her! Cheerleading is a serious commitment, I definately wasnt expect it to be so time consuming, but I understand why it is. My daughter has been cheering for 4 years and absolutely LOVES it. I love that she does it too, its just a lot of running constantly. Practices 6 times a week, tumbling classes, games and competitions....that is all just the basics, then you add fun events and fundraising...it gets to be overload sometimes. The basketball season is wrapping up with one last game Wednesday, then we will ahve a break for a bit. She still will be taking a tumbling class once a week though...

Oh and todays competition was a lot of fun. They did amazing and took second place!

fantastic ... cheering for 4 years, what grade is she in? Jesa, my daughter, started when she was in 6th grade and continued all the way through hs. the youngest started in 5th and went until 10th or 11th grade ... one year she was the mascot. man was it ever expensive ... especially for a single mom! lol ... I worked a lot of bingo games and then worked for my father collecting sugar pine pinecones ... that is another story for another day! lol
so what was this competition?
not sure but guessing you to be on the east coast? I believe that Varsity is really big in that area and maybe even UCA ... Jesa works for USA but they are now a part of Varsity so she ends up in florida sometimes. She has also gone to London, Canada, and Japan for them. I know there was talk of Australia but I don't know if that was cancelled or changed. Through all of her contacts with the company she has also worked for another company called Y2K and for about 5 or 6 years has been part of the staff for the ProBowl halftime ... this was the first year she didn't work it.

would love to see some layouts of your daughter and her cheering ... I haven't done any for my girls ... I am still working backwards and many of those photos are no longer .... sad to say.

She is in 7th grade this year and mad ehte High school Freshamn team! She is a flyer (knowing abt cheering you know what that is right) and she absolutely loves it. It is a huge commitment, but she is very good and it is pretty mych all she does.

The competition she just had was pretty big Winter Blast Comp. Yes we are on the east coast, in New York and especially in our area, they take cheerleading very seriously. There is HUGE competition out here and our school (not to brag at all) is known for its amazing teams. Our Varsity girls are heading to San Diego next week for Sectionals. They are amazing!

I have lots of cheer stuff to scrap from this year and will share some LO as soon as I get to them.
