Weekly Challenge for November 15th - Traditional

Postby dgbearsmom on Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:56 pm

Hi ladies. I'm sorry I'm so late posting the challenge this week.

Your challenge for this week is to create a Christmas theme project (card, ATC, layout, etc) that incorporates at least one non-traditional element. Examples include:

- A non-traditional color scheme (e.g. no red or green)
- An image that was not originally intended as a Christmas image
- A humorous theme
- A traditional image colored or treated in a non-traditional way
- Any other "non-traditional" element you can come up with.

Here are some samples.

This is a card I just made today that uses an image not originally intended as a Christmas image.

This that I made awhile back is a traditional image treated in a non-traditional way. Santa's suit is blue instead of red. It also uses a non-traditional color scheme - blue and brown.

This final sample is a card made by someone else, but I thought it illustrated the theme nicely. Some of you probably remember Heidi/GiftsbyHeidi that used to hang out here with us. This is a card that she made and posted on a her blog a couple of days ago. It uses both a non-traditional color scheme and an image that was not originally intended as a Christmas image. You can visit Heidi's blog to see the ccard.

There will be a prize this week that is yet to be determined. I look forward to seeing everyone's non-traditional Christmas creations!

Well...when I first read this I had no idea what I would do...then when I was organizing/cleaning some stuff on my desk (never-ending  ) I found the Tilda images that Jenny sent me. One of them was just perfect so I stopped cleaning and started coloring!!! Here's my little Tilda on her Christmas package!

I combined this challenge with one I participate in hosted by Gina/SBA4 who used to be on this board. Hers was a sketch challenge, so I did it in non-traditional pink. (At least, "I" think it is non-traditional even though we are seeing all kinds of colors out there in the commercial world now! LOL!) The plaid pp is shimmery and I also "stickled" the snowflakes. ~Bev~
