Where are some good alternate hotel options for this? My husband and I are coming and I just don't want to pay that $120 a night.

Also, he likes good flea markets (junky - antique stuff) and record stores. Any suggestions?

Use Priceline and name your own price. My mom and I have done this the last three years and have only paid around $50/night. We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza, Aloft Charlotte Uptown and this year we are at the Courtyard Uptown for $45. With taxes and fees, it was $59. Can't beat it. I love Priceline!

Thanks for all the tips. I might get brave and try priceline this time. I've looked before but guess I'm just too much of a control freak to not know where I'm staying.

I really was too until I tried it. You can select with area of the city you want and what minimum star you will accept. You can even go to the map of the area and see which hotels are included in those categories. We are also going to Atlanta in October and I have a room at the W Hotel in Perimeter for $50/night. You just can't beat it. You don't get to choose but you definitely have some control by what parameters you put in place.
