Absolute Organization

I signed up for this class at CKC in Seattle next month and I'm having second thoughts. I looked at the Triple-T website and it has a really expensive organizing system there (Scrap Rack System - http://www.thescraprack.com/organize.html). Is this what they teach in the class?

I need to find a better way of organizing my "stuff" than what I'm currently doing, but something that's affordable. Who wants to spend all their scrapping $$ on organizing supplies??? I'd rather spend it on supplies!

Any input appreciated.

I have a scraprack. I was talked into it at a CKC in Phoenix! Your concern is valid, it can be frustrating to spend a lot of money to organize your supplies. But it's also really easy to find embellishments when they are consistently sorted and stored (and if you don't try to skimp by doubling things up in pockets - which means you can't see what's underneath). I go back and forth on being frustrated with the scraprack and with loving it. The basic set is definately most useful if you don't have too many supplies. I have tons of supplies (my friends call my house "the free store") so I decided several years ago that I would only store what I had room for in the spinders and storage pages that I have - I won't buy more. I store some of my stickes, borders, rub-ons, and punched shapes, not paper, letters, ribbon, brads, templates, etc.

I think you can tell by this less than helpful review that I'm conflicted on the value of this organizing tool! I am too cheap to get rid of something that I have invested so much in, so I keep using it out of stubborness. But I've never told any of my friends that they just HAD to buy a system for themselves.

You can watch the video on the website or order it.. the class as it was offered in Charlotte was basically one huge "sales pitch"... and the same as the video.. You can print off the tips for organizing everything online too. Maybe they give a coupon that will make it worthwhile but I have a TON of supplies but not enough room for that huge "rack" to sit out. I used JetMax cubes (2 units-each 5 drawers high), paper holder cubes etc and got it all done using the color system and then theme for about $250. and it's not taking up surface space. IMHO what they are charging is a lot for an infomercial.

I took this class at CKC St Paul last week. The class wasn't centered around the Scrap Rack as much as it was about developing an organizational "system" that can be applied to shoeboxes, notebooks, plastic tote, or 12x12 stacked drawers...or of course, the ScrapRack
For instance, I spent a few hours yesterday reorganizing my paper and embellishment stash to 1) sort papers with the "rainbow" method, 2) coordinate my ribbon, buttons, brads, ect with my papers and 3) to purge the items I won't use, (or forgot I had) ... they will be donated to a local orgaization today. I used the 12x12 stacking drawers I currently own.
I recommend the class. I consider myself to be well organized to begin with and I picked up on several tips and tricks that will streamline my crop-time. The handouts are good and the instructor (Tiffany) is full of really good ideas for getting and staying organized. Yes, she pitches the ScrapRack but not any more so than products were pitched in any of the other 5 classes I attended over the weekend. Have fun!

Thanks gang! Since it does cover other methods, I'll stick with it.

My daughter-in-law has the basic ScrapRack system and likes it although she feels that the pocket pages are too flimsy - they tend to sag if too much is in a pocket - so she uses CropperHopper pockets.

I have very little room to work - everything's stacked on the dining room table, which we don't use for eating anyway (we gravitate to the less formal kitchen table, which has its own share of "stuff" stacked on it <g>) - and liked the info I saw on their page about how easy it is to fold everything up in a box to clear off the table.

This is my first CKC and I'm really looking forward to it!

I just recently bought a used system and am loving it! I just ordered an expansion kit and more pages. I am an organizational freak and have redone my supplies several ways depending on if I am cropping more at home or on the road. After carting all my stuff to CKC-VF last summer I decided that I would not be traveling to crops anymore so when I watched the video on they're (scraprack) website where it said I could find anything in 30 seconds I was intrigued. I can already tell that my scrapbbooking will be so much faster and easier. I was constantly forgetting I had some cool little embellishment to use until after the page was done. Now everything will be in front of me with the exception of my paper/cardstock stash which is still too large to be any where except in my cropper hopper verticals. Yes, its a huge investment but in the long run it will save me money because I can keep track of my supplies.

I loved this class and am so glad I went. Tiffany was a great presenter although she had to skip a lot because she had only an hour. She said she usually does it in a 90 min class! She gave us all a DVD so we could see the whole presentation.

Some great organization techniques, even if I don't end up getting her system. Which I ended up really liking.....

I went to this class in Bellevue and would not recommend anyone pay for it at future conventions, you can get the sales pitch for free (if you want it) at the booth -

Well, certainly she was selling a product (weren't they all? I sure remember hearing a lot of "come see us at our booth" invitations!) but I did get some great organization tips and I'm starting to apply them to the "system" I already have going. I loved the handout too.

I didn't purchase the ScrapRack and not sure if I want to spend that much $$ right now. Maybe later. My daughter-in-law has the system with two bases and loves it.
