So, I don't want to be a scrooge, but I need a question (or a couple, depending on how this comes out) answered:

Has someone actually, in fact, gotten this girl's (or her parents') contact information?

I mean, the article doesn't tell us the KID'S name, and if I were hospital administration, I wouldn't just let you walk up to me (these days) with a huge mess of boxes in tow and ask for the "peck kid's room" or anything, kwim?

I mean, I can see the story is legit, but I would really appreciate knowing the delivery logistics here. I suspect that I am not the only one secretly wondering this.

(And, LBOregon/KelsBells, this is nothing against you personally-- there have been a couple of bad experiences here that make some of us proceed with a bit more caution. Hope you understand!)

Meanwhile, I have this picture of this girl who is used to flat CS and some stickers... dear me, she will be overwhelmed by all of you!!! :D

I have a small Fiskars paper trimmer that I never use. I could probably fit it in one of the post office boxes. I'd be glad to donate that as part of my contribution.

LBOregon, I'm not trying to step on your toes. I don't have to include it, but I think it would fit in one of those boxes. Let me know what you want me to do.

Thanks...

No, I don't think you are a scrooge. I can understand your questions and no offense taken. Here's what I know so far.

I had contact today with the news anchor for Fox 12. She said that she was working from home today and that she didn't have Mrs. Peck's cell phone number with her. She said that she would contact the mother tomorrow and find out what sort of arrangements would work for the family.

I had been waiting to hear back before I posted 'cause I was hoping to have some concrete information to pass along. I hope to have that soon. As soon as I have more details I will post them to the MB, hopefully tomorrow or the next day.

No, I agree - it would be bad form to show up unannounced at the hospital and spring this on the family as a surprise. I really have no idea what is wrong with the girl other than I assume it is serious if she had to be life flighted there. The Fox 12 anchor said that the girl is expected to be hospitalized for about another 10 days. I thought it best for the news anchor to negotiate the contact between us and the girls family.

ANYONE - if you have questions, let me know. I'll do my best to respond with what I DO or DON'T know.
I can certainly understand - in today's world - how people feel they need to be on the lookout for scams. Really, most of what I know came from the news story and video. I have to assume that the pictures of the busted out windows of the van were real.

No, you're not stepping on my toes.
The point I was trying to make (and I don't always get my point across well  )
is that since I'm local here in Portland, I don't have to worry about shipping and the time that takes - I can do last minute shopping - so I'll be watching the thread to see if any SB necessities are still needed. Then I'll plan my shopping next weekend accordingly. KWIM?

Thank you for your questions. This all started over the weekend, so we didn't have a lot of details to start. I totally understand your concerns - no apologies necessary. LBOregon contacted Channel 12 today that did the news story so they can get ahold of Mrs. Peck so that we can arrange delivery. As soon as she gets the details, we will post on the MB.

I am having the packages sent to my parents house, as I work during the day. This way they will stay nice and safe until I get home.

I have compiled a spreadsheet of all the wonderful people on the MB who have offered to help. When their package arrives, I will log in what has been donated onto the spreadsheet. A couple of people from the MB have graciously offered to help go through the all the donations to sort and organize them and get them ready for delivery.

LB is going to take pictures of the items and post on the MB.

With all this little girl has gone through, I hope this will be a SUPER POSITIVE experience for her.

Again I understand your concerns, if you have any suggestions for me so that I can make this better, please let me know. :D :D :D :D

Do we know how old she is? I think that will change what I send to her. Thanks
