Not happy with the new CK

Most veteran scrappers already know what products are available, but I would appreciate knowing the quailty or value of these products. I hope that makes sense!

I think that was a lot of the reasons the Scrapbook Answers went out of business. They were really frank with their reviews. Pazzles about freaked! They were biting the hand that fed them. I liked it because I was getting the truth for once in my life but not real smart business apparently. I miss the magazine and the personalities that went with them.

The special issue stank I thought. I didn't even pass it along to some unsuspecting friend. It went in the Recycle Bin. Please bring back the Top Ten CK!!!! I still re-read that.

I am concerned that the next month's issue will be a flyer. It is shrinking like I wish my waistline would.

I am not marking layouts much anymore. I am not sure why. Also agree that I miss reading the journaling.

CK please return to your roots! I beg of you. Right now the only thing I like about the mag is the MB.

I have been so unhappy with the mag that I let my subscription lapse. If there is one mag that I really want to get then I will just buy it.

A while back a lot of people were upset with MM mag and they took these concerns and changed everything in there and now it is a great mag that a lot of people are happy with. I can only hope that CK hears what we have to say and follows suit.

I am shocked that the size of the mag has dropped so much. I am also not pleased with the excessive ads and there are too many articles promoting products. I want a mag with ideas and inspiration, not just ads.

The change was not a positive one and I can only hope that they listen.

Jodster, I was ROFL when I read this! But I do totally agree with you. Although I can be inspired by almost anything, I have been frustrated by many of the LOs featured in the mag recently. I also agree with all the people who mentioned that all the articles seem to just blur together. No, I do not need a full page picture of Ali or CD, but a small photo on the first page of their articles (like they used to have for Jen and Becky)would be great. My subscription is up in April, and I will not be renewing. I think I will just keep checking out the latest edition of CK at my LSS until I see some changes.
I'm a linear, chronological, multi-photo scrapper, and proud of it!

ITA Angela. The product review was a waste of time for me and I have already chucked it into the recycle bin. The top ten issue was so much better.

I agree. I looked through some of my old issues because the newer issues seemed so thin. the old issues were upwards of almost 200 pages. the new ones have half that and most of that is ads. I am considering not renewing also.

I went through and counted only 50 LO's in the January issue. I even counted Jessica Spragues Digi/Traditional twice!

Now I need to find last January's and count how many it had.

I have to agree also, the product guide happened to be the first issue of my renewal and I'm actually kind of regretting it. I zipped through the mag so fast and was left disappointed, haven't even bothered to pick it up for a second look. Wondering if I should have subscribed to a different mag?!? (still loving this site and it's forum though! )

I'm so so so glad that I'm not the only one disappointed by the turn CK has taken. My subscription expired and I did not renew because I'm not that interested - I was picking it up on the news stand until I picked up the latest special issue and now it will be several months before I pay for CK again! I hate to say that and do that but I have been buying and subscribing to CK for a very long time and I feel that they are cheating their readers. I absolutely understand that you have to shake things up now and then but it's a scrapbooking magazine and I don't think it's too much to ask to see layouts and not only see them but be able to read the journaling and all the details. The Ultimate Product Guide was the Ultimate Disappointment. No layouts? Maybe it would have been helpful to show us why these products are so wonderful and how we can put them to good use. A magazine loaded with ideas inspires me to purchase new products over just a book of lists. That's my two cents anyways.

Did you guys respond to Erin's post?

Postby the scrapaddict on Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:24 pm

Just wondering if you guys have all noticed the sticky thread, that Erin has on the MB. We could all voice our likes and dislikes about the Magazine, because they are looking for ways to improve it. I think CK might have noticed this ongoing post of ours, voicing our complaints about the magazine, because Erin came out with that sticky thread after a few days from this post.

It's the sticky thread that says "Write a review of the Feb. issue."
