I think AB posted here to remind CK that they need to do more than just take the word of HOF contestants regarding some of the photos that are in question. The integrity of HOF is CK's concern, and personally I think it was appropriate to post here based on that reason.

I don't know what blows me away more.

The fact that HOFers are possibly lying

OR

The fact that members of this board don't care.

Seriously ! I think that is what really hurts me the most. Honesty and hard work means nothing anymore.

Speaking for myself, it's definitely not that I don't care...it's more the method in which it's continually brought up and the things that are said to CK and the HOFers when CK has apologized and said they are crafting a solution.

I just can't keep quiet!

I have read all of this mess with morbid, bitter fascination. I entered HOF 2006. I spent countless hours and dollars, lovingly mailing and fretting over my entry.

Let me start by saying I by no means think my entry should have won. Nor am I losing sleep over this mess/cover up.

My life will be just fine and I think I may have even escaped the post-traumatic stress bug floating around here.

With that said, CK's apology and corrective action plan have failed horribly, IMHO, to address the real concern here.

People lie and cheat, some even unintentionally. That's a fact of nature.

Companies change staff, fail to communicate and make mistatkes. This is the stuff great lawsuits and corporate spy thrillers are made of.

BUT, and here's why all of this matters - A company choosing winners they know they want, before any formal judging even had to be done - while pretending to want every unknown hopeful to send in their stuff - and being willing to ignore those predertemined winners' submission to the contest rules...well, CK's apology and action plan in no way address this.

I can't figure out why ANYONE thinks that CK's apology in any way softened what can best be described as Favoritism/Nepotim and at worst what is clearly the publishing world's version of Insider Trading.

The world is not going to end because of any of this. But it does matter.

It matters because the powers that be still have not taken responsibility for the real sin here. That's the bottom line, IMHO.

Ditto! (but I didn't enter last year)

I know the rumor that a lot of the CK HOF members are picked using preferencial treatment. I don't know if I wholely believe it or not, however, CK has not done anything to dispell the rumors. If we knew who the judges were, what the judging process was, and the criteria that the entries were being judged upon, that would go a long way to settling the rumors. Just a candid thought.

Some of us don't care.

I didn't enter HOF. I don't buy the HOF magazine. I rarely buy the regular CK magazine. What the HOFers may or may not have done, and what CK does or does not do in response, does not matter to me in the overall scheme of my life. Like Britney Spears' custody case, someone just give me one big synopsis at the end.

Moreover, at this point, posting threads like this is basically preaching to the choir. We already know who's outraged, who's ambivalent, and who plain doesn't care. I think it's unlikely you'll convert anyone to outraged, but it's more likely you'll make some people not care anymore.

Finally, while I agree that yes, honesty and intergrity are important, I can't help but question the scale of the response. There have been calls for boycotts and legal action.... Let's get a little perspective, shall we? In terms of dishonesty and lack of integrity, how about our political leaders, hmm? The ones tapping our phone lines and making us take off our shoes at airports (where they miss 60% of test bombs anyhow)? How come no one's storming Washington, hmm?

Be disappointed in CK. Stop participating and stop buying their products. But stop dragging the rest of the community into this. (And, more importantly, it's about a contest so at least go post in the correct forum so those of us who want to can avoid it.)

Well, I don't think option 2 is necessarily true. We care. I would hypothesize that a bulk of us "members" feel that CK is working to resolve the situation. They've made that clear by the mere fact they are coming out with a new HOF issue. Some situations need a little time to remedy themselves. IMHO~ I'm not so sure beating the "we want answers to this problem" drum every minute of the day is going to resolve the problems any faster. I'm fairly certain CK "get's" it.

But, you do don't feel the same way.. and I respect that. But, to make a blatant statement that we don't care because we don't express the same level of disdain seems to be a bit off base.

(Again, no disrespect intended.. just expressing an opposing opinion)
