name of paper craft involving patterns, folding, scoring etc

Hi,
can anyone tell me the name of the paper craft that involves patterns (similar to clothing patterns you would cut to make a dress, not the decorative form). You cut the shapes and bend, fold, score and glue to make a 3D form - maybe 10 to 20 pieces of paper used to make the form. I had a book as a kid and made 3D doves and trolls and the like.
Would love to know the term or, if anyone knows of any sites or books. Any information greatly appreciated

I'm wondering if you are talking about origami. I did an internet search on paper art and sure came up with a lot of different beautiful things made out of paper. Good luck with your search.

Could it be paper piecing? Also, like the paper dolls cartridge that Cricut has with the various bodies & clothing options?
