CKU Ala Carte Classes

In addition to your cutting-edge classes and amazing Album track, you can add to the educational expertise you’ll gain at CKU through participating in Ala Carte classes on Wednesday.

Class Name: Heading Home
Class Times: Wednesday (1:00 PM and 3:00 PM)
Class Price: $15.00

Class Description: If the walls of your home could talk about everything that happens within them, what would they say? What stories would they have to tell about you and your family? That your daughter loves to dance in the middle of the living room when she thinks no one is watching? That your son has exactly 12 candy bars hidden in his bedroom drawer? That when no one else is home, you love to wear your most comfortable pajamas and eat your favorite ice cream? Here’s your chance to document the epicenter of our lives: our homes. It’s the place that makes us who we are, where everyone’s story begins.
 
In this class you'll create a simple mini-album all about your home, room by room. We’ll use a chipboard album from Maya Road and patterned papers, cardstock and tags from the limited Café Spirit line from Creative Imaginations.
 
Please bring the following photos to class with you:
(8) 2”x3” horizontal photos of favorite architectural features that you like about your home, favorite pieces you have decorated your home with, favorite chair. A mix of photos is fine.
(1) 3”x5” vertical photo of a larger piece in your home such as a bookcase, hutch or your front door!
(1) 4”x6” of a favorite room in your home.

Class Description: Come create a fun, flower-shaped mini album to showcase everything about you. From your dreams and wishes to your greatest treasures. This versatile theme and color scheme make it easy to match your photos, and it is sure to impress your friends with its stylish, fresh products. You'll be working with American Crafts patterned paper and ribbon and Bo Bunny Rub-ons! Today is the day to celebrate your uniqueness and publish a chapter in your life.

Class Name: Life's Lyrics
Class Times : Wednesday (1:00 PM and 3:00 PM)
Class Price: $15.00

Class Description: Music is all around us. It’s on while you drive, it’s playing during your gym work out, or in the background at home to help you relax. Whether you listen to country, pop or rock, lyrics from your favorite songs can inspire, heal and remind you of special memories and moments in your life.

Join us in class as we create a 12-page 6x6 chipboard album that is centered around song lyrics. Before class, take a moment and make a list of 12 or more favorite songs and either write or type the meaningful message from each song. Then gather 12 photos to add to your album that remind you of your chosen lyrics.

Artist: Rascal Flatts
Lyrics that remind me of what I want for my children:  I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow and each road leads you where you want to go, my wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to.

Class Name: Creative Cards and Card Swap
Class Times: Wednesday (1:00 PM and 3:00 PM)
Class Price: $15.00

Class Description: Do you love cards? Do you want to gather new cardmaking ideas from fellow cardmakers?  Join us for a class designed especially for you! We’ll begin by creating 5 cards that incorporate stamping, pockets and interactive elements!
 
To participate in the card swap, bring 20 completed cards to exchange with other students.

Class Name: Window Lighting Workshop

Class Times: Wednesday (1:00 PM and 3:00 PM)

Class Price: $15.00

Class Description: Come and join Candice Stringham for a hands-on workshop on window lighting portraits. You will learn how to create a studio look with natural light! We will talk about the different lighting directions, how to light and pose a basic headshot, and some fun ideas on coming up with inexpensive and creative backdrops. Bring your cameras to class!
